CEO of upscale food store hankers for prospect of opening LV stores


The Oil & Vinegar franchise plans to open three Las Vegas locations over the next six years. The upscale culinary and gourmet food store's CEO says the worst economy since the Great Depression has slowed, but not stopped, his national expansion plans.

"We were going to open up five stores this year (nationally), but we have not opened any," CEO Matt Stermer said. "We want a store in Las Vegas. It should open in September 2010."

The Las Vegas Valley remains one of the target markets for the Netherlands-based chain. Other cities on that eclectic must-have list include Detroit, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Washington, D.C.

Five stores are already open in the United States, including one outside Seattle. And sales have survived the recession, Stermer said, dropping only 6 percent in the last year. (READ MORE)
